Importance of organism and transcriptomes | Cryptomonas paramecium is a secondarily nonphotosynthetic cryptomonad which arose by secondary endosymbiosis between a bifllagellated host and a red algal endosymbiont. The nucleomorph, a highly reduced endosymbiont nucleus, is a remarkable feature of cryptomonads, which is also found in chlorarachniophytes. Transcriptomic analyses will provide insights into endosymbiotic gene transfer and organelle evolution. |
