Importance of organism and transcriptomesPseudo-nitzschia australis is a ubiquitous toxigenic diatom capable of producing the potent neurotoxin domoic acid (DA). This study seeks to compare the transcriptomes of P. australis when maintained at equivalent growth rates utilizing different N-sources (NO3 vs NH4, UREA, GLUTAMATE) in order to gain an understanding of the physiological scope of this species to utilize reduced nitrogen sources to support growth, DA biosynthesis and general amino acid metabolism.
