Importance of organism and transcriptomesProtoceratium reticulatum is a `core? member of the order Gonyaulacales and is a heavily armoured dinoflagellate that has been shown to contain yessotoxin, a substance toxic to mice but whose effects on humans are not known. It is also a common member of the summer plankton in temperate latitudes.
