Importance of organism and transcriptomes | Prorocentrum lima is a common benthic dinoflagellate that produces a number of toxic substances including okadaic acid, the toxin resposible for diarrheic shellfish poisoning. Its morphology is very derived, and nothing is known about the genetic features that underline that. In SSU-based phylogenetic trees the genus Prorocentrum tends to split into two groups, and P. lima does not cluster with the type species of the genus, P. micans. |
