| Importance of organism and transcriptomes | This epiphytic araphid pennate diatom can be found across the Pacific and is one of the closest relatives to the round araphid pennate diatom Cyclophora radiata. Comparing the transcriptome between this taxon and Cyclophora radiata should provide clues to the molecular machinery involved in the switch from an attached, benthic habit to a free-living planktonic habit. |
