Importance of organism and transcriptomesThe diatom genus Skeletonema is an abundant component of many estuarine and coastal environments around the globe. Along the Northeast coast of the US, this planktonic genus is a major contributor to primary productivity. Transcriptomes of S. menzelii generated here will be used to better understand the bloom dynamics of species in the genus Skeletonema.
