Importance of organism and transcriptomesThe small free-living flagellate Percolomonas cosmopolitus (Excavata: Heterolobosea) is one of most diverse morphospecies known, according to rRNA sequences. Transcriptome data from two disparate isolates of P. cosmopolitus will give a first view of the differences at the functional level within this morphospecies. Furthermore, Percolomonas is an aerobic mesophile that only has a flagellate stage, and as such is an important comparator organism for studies of anaerobic, thermophilic and halophilic Heterolobosea, as well as well-studied amoeboflagellate forms in which the genomic underpinnings of motility are studied (Naegleria).
