Importance of organism and transcriptomes | Coccolithophores are the major producer of biogenic calcite in the ocean and thus play an important role in the global carbon cycle. Emiliania huxleyi is a cosmopolitan coccolithophore species, which often forms massive blooms in the ocean. Transcriptomic data will allow us to understand how E. huxleyi responds to changes in pCO2 and pH caused by ocean acidification. |
